Veranda

Veranda , noun

[A word brought by the English from India; of uncertain origin; compare Sanskrit varanda, Portuguese varanda, Sp. baranda, Malay baranda.]

(Architecture) An open, roofed gallery or portico, adjoining a dwelling house, forming an out-of-door sitting room. See Loggia.
