Not specially appropriate; having no special application. — J. Warton

Not granted to any person, corporation, or the like, to the exclusion of others; as, unappropriated lands.
3.
Not granted for, or applied to, any specific purpose; as, the unappropriated moneys in the treasury.

In the proceedings of the United States congress, money for specific purposes must first be authorized by law, and must subsequently be appropriated in a separate action. Money authorized but not appropriated may be described as unappropriated.
