[Latin sentiens, -entis, present participle of sentire to discern or perceive by the senses. See Sense.]

(Physiology) Having a faculty, or faculties, of sensation and perception.
(Physiology) especially sensitive; as, the sentient extremities of nerves, which terminate in the various organs or tissues.
