Scintillate , intransitive verb

[Latin scintillare, scintillatum, from scintilla a spark. Compare Stencil.]

To emit sparks, or fine igneous particles.
As the electrical globe only scintillates when rubbed against its cushion. — Sir W. Scott

To sparkle, as the fixed stars.
