Scapolite

Scapolite (skap"o*līt) , noun

[Greek {not transcribed} a staff, or Latin scapus a stem, stalk + -lite: compare French scapolite.]

(Mon.) A grayish white mineral occurring in tetragonal crystals and in cleavable masses. It is essentially a silicate of alumina and soda.

The scapolite group includes scapolite proper, or wernerite, also meionite, dipyre, etc.
