[Late Latin remonstranc, -antis, present participle of remonstrare: compare Old French remonstrant, French remontrant.]

Inclined or tending to remonstrate; expostulatory; urging reasons in opposition to something.

(Ecclesiastical Hist.) One who remonstrates
(Ecclesiastical Hist.) one of the Arminians who remonstrated against the attacks of the Calvinists in 1610, but were subsequently condemned by the decisions of the Synod of Dort in 1618. See Arminian.
