A combining form denoting five; as, pentacapsular; pentagon.
2.
(Chemistry) Denoting the degree of five, either as regards quality, property, or composition; as, pentasulphide, containing five sulfur atoms; pentoxide, containing five oxygen atoms, etc. Also used adjectively.
