[New Latin, from Greek 'o`ryx a kind of gazelle or antelope.]

(Zoology) A genus of African antelopes which includes the gemsbok, the leucoryx, the bisa antelope (Oryx beisa), and the beatrix antelope (Oryx beatrix) of Arabia.
