[Greek kefalh` the head; it was supposed by Thudichum to exist in brain tissue.]

(Physiology Chemistry) One of a group of phospholipids (nitrogenous phosphorized fatty substances), present in all living cells and particularly noticeable in nervous tissue. Same as cephalin, which see.
