A prefix signifying over, above; as, hyperphysical, hyperthyrion; also, above measure, abnormally great, excessive; as, hyperamia, hyperbola, hypercritical, hypersecretion.

(Chemistry) A prefix equivalent to super- or per-; as hyperoxide, or peroxide. [Obs.] See Per-.
