Glitter

Glitter , intransitive verb

[Old English gliteren; akin to Swedish glittra, Icelandic glitra, glita, Anglo-Saxon glitenian, Old Saxon glītan, Old High German glīzzan, German gleissen, Gothic glitmunjan, and also to English glint, glisten, and prob. glance, gleam.]

To sparkle with light; to shine with a brilliant and broken light or showy luster; to gleam; as, a glittering sword.

To be showy, specious, or striking, and hence attractive; as, the glittering scenes of a court.
