[New Latin, from Greek {not transcribed} an oar + -poda.]

(Zoology) An order of Entomostraca, including many minute Crustacea, both fresh-water and marine.

They have a distinct carapace. The eggs are carried in a pair of external pouches. Some are parasites of fishes.
