Bebeerine (be*bē"rin or -rēn) , noun
(Chemistry) An alkaloid got from the bark of the bebeeru, or green heart of Guiana (Nectandra Rodioi). It is a tonic, antiperiodic, and febrifuge, and is used in medicine as a substitute for quinine.
